Colin was born in England in 1964. He studied illustration at the Kingston School of Art where he gained a First Class Honours Degree.
After Graduating he worked as an illustrator for a year before entering the animation industry. He spent three years at Hibbert Ralph Animation before moving to work for Walt Disney in London and Paris. He gained valuable experience working as a background artist and art director for Steven Spielberg's Amblimation.
In 1994, he moved to California to work on The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Hercules for Walt Disney Feature Animation. He then went on to art direct The Emperor's New Groove for which he was nominated for an ANNIE award for Outstanding Individual Achievement for Production Design in an Animated Feature Production.
After nearly seven years in the U.S. Colin and his family moved back to England. Since then he has continued to work for Disney, Universal and other major film companies as a freelance designer.
In the summer of 2004 Colin was approached to illustrate a book The Poison Diaries for the Duchess of Northumberland. It proved to be a wonderful opportunity for him to return to illustration. He has since gone on to illustrate a number of successful children's books.
Colin's goal is to continue to work in both animation and illustration, with the aim of seeing one of his own projects developed into a feature film. In Spring 2011 Aardman Animation optioned his children's book Germs! with the view to turning it into an animated feature.
This year Colin has seen the release of his book Jack and the Baked Beanstalk, published by Templar/Candlewick. It is the first story that he has written as well as illustrated.
He has also thoroughly enjoyed working as a designer for Illumination Entertainment on their hugely successful Dr Seuss movie The Lorax. Currently he is busy on the sequel to their box office hit Despicable Me.
